CLAIRE LORMOR

Claire Lormor is the founder of Wellness Space and the lead teacher for this 200hr YTT.

With over seven years of experience teaching yoga, a degree in Physiology from The University of Manchester and a prior four-year career as an English Language Teacher, Claire brings a rare depth of knowledge and expertise.

As the lead teacher, Claire is committed to helping you grow into a confident, knowledgeable, well-rounded instructor, while creating a sense of community and a supportive space where you feel seen, heard, and inspired to step into your own unique voice as a yoga teacher.

Claire’s teaching approach is informed by her studies in physiology, and enriched by her global yoga journey, which began in Vietnam and Canada, then moved to London and Manchester.

Trained in a number of yoga styles, Claire has studied over 500 hours in Vinyasa, Rocket, Mandala, Yin, 4Beat, and Pre & Post-Natal Yoga. With experience running a successful yoga studio, hosting wellness retreats and events that have shaped the North East's wellness scene, Claire also understands the importance of educating people on the 'business of yoga'.

Her background in education shines through when she delivers a training or workshop, and not only is she passionate about yoga, but truly gifted at teaching it. Whether guiding a workshop, a dynamic flow or a grounded meditation practice, she blends anatomical insight, breath awareness, and mindful movement in a way that feels both empowering and personal.

Known for her ability to hold space with both structure and ease, Claire delivers thoughtful, creative, and engaging training experiences and she'd love for you to let her guide you on this incredible path.

BRENT GILPIN

Brent, more commonly known as Finding Function, is a specialist Physiotherapist and Strength Coach. He has over 13 years experience within multiple disciplines in physiotherapy and worked across the globe helping people to regain trust in their bodies and move pain free.

With a background in complex pain and sporting performance, his knowledge base has been built around how different systems of the body interact and that no system works alone.

In our 200hr YTT he’ll be teaching us about all things anatomy, physiology and biomechanics, and unraveling these areas into logical and simple concepts to ensure we know how to utilise this into our movement practice and teachings.

This is not just learning from a textbook - it’s understanding how you move, feel and think so that you can confidently part that knowledge onto others.

RAFIE FARUQ

Rafie is a lifelong spiritual explorer with a natural sensitivity to energy, intuition, and consciousness.

At a young age, Rafie questioned religious norms, exploring spiritual concepts beyond cultural teachings.

From early childhood, he experienced lucid dreams, spontaneous meditative states, and a deep curiosity about the nature of reality. He would spend his time reading every book he could get hold of on spirituality, and his library of books today spans the widest corners of the world through time and geography; including many out of print original books, be it ancient yoga scriptures or undertakings of the theosophical society.

With no spiritual influence at home, Rafie independently pursued self-directed learning through libraries, online communities, and eventually, formal training. Over the years, he has studied meditation, energy healing, breathwork and psychic development.

Rooted in a deep sense of empathy and purpose, Rafie’s journey continues—driven by a commitment to personal growth, and a sincere desire to support healing and spiritual growth in others.

We’re delighted to have Rafie join our 200hr YTT team to deliver lectures on yoga history and philosophy, as well as guide meditation and pranayama sessions. Rafie brings a wealth of spiritual insight and experience, offering students a deeply enriching and grounded perspective on these essential aspects of the yogic path.

AMY LUTTON

Amy began her Yoga journey in 2012 whilst living in Canada. In 2019 she qualified from her first 200hr YTT in Newcastle and has since been lucky enough to complete a further 750 hours of Yoga Teacher Training in India, Bali and London. She’s trained in a variety of styles including Vinyasa, Hatha, Yin, Restorative and Kundalini.

Until 2022 she was a full time Primary School Teacher and uses the same methodical approach to planning her yoga classes as she did in the classroom. Amy’s known for her down to earth style of teaching that creates an environment where students can be unapologetically themselves.

Amy is passionate about sequencing, and uses a range of methods and styles to plan her classes. She firmly believes class planning is a skill that requires a carefully balanced blend of practical methodology with creativity.

During her time in India she became particularly interested in the Chakras and has acquired a vast volume of knowledge around this ancient system which she both weaves into classes and runs specific courses on. She’ll be teaching us everything she knows as part of the Chakras element of our 200hr YTT.

Amy has an established reputation in the North East; running sold out events and retreats as well as courses and classes.

In 2024 Amy founded North East Yoga Teachers - a network of teachers in the North East of England. She leads and facilitates CPD for teachers as well as organising social events with the aim of creating a supportive and inclusive yoga community on our doorstep.

We will also have a range of other guest teachers throughout the course to share their knowledge and expertise.

Other FAQs:
Will I be able to teach yoga after completing the program? Yes. After completing a 200-hour YTT and receiving certification, you’ll be eligible to register with Yoga Alliance as a RYT-200 (Registered Yoga Teacher), allowing you to teach yoga globally.

Can I attend if I don’t plan to teach yoga after? Absolutely. Many people join YTT for personal growth, self-discovery, or to deepen their own practice without the intention of teaching.

Do I need to be advanced in yoga to join? No. While a consistent yoga practice is recommended (usually 6 months to a year), you don't need to be advanced in asana. Yoga is so much more than just asana and the training is designed to deepen your practice and understanding.

Why choose an in-person YTT over an online one? Choosing an in-person 200hr YTT offers hands-on guidance, real-time feedback, and a deeply immersive learning environment that online formats can’t fully replicate. It fosters strong connections with teachers and peers, creating a supportive community and enhancing your confidence through live practice teaching. The structured setting and energetic experience of training in a shared space also help you stay focused, accountable, and fully engaged in the learning journey.

Why choose a weekend-module style YTT over a immersive format? A weekend-module style YTT allows for integration of learning into daily life, providing time to absorb and apply concepts gradually. It offers flexibility for those with work or family commitments, making it more accessible. This format also fosters sustained community and mentorship over a longer period, supporting deeper personal growth.

What happens after I get certified?
You can:
Begin teaching at studios, gyms, or online
Continue with advanced trainings (e.g., 300-hour YTT)
Register with Yoga Alliance
Start your own classes or business

Can I teach internationally after the 200-hour YTT? Yes, because the training will be certified by Yoga Alliance, you will be able to teach all over the world.

Do I need any yoga equipment? Mats and yoga props are available for use at Wellness Space studio free of charge, however it is always recommended to have your own yoga mat for hygiene and sanitary reasons.
